Show your support for Stand Up To Coal at the March 8th meeting of the Vermilion County Board. Group members will discuss Sunrise Coal LLC’s plan to mine coal in Vermilion County, and how a new mine could threaten agriculture, the local economy, clean water, and the health and quality of life of rural residents.
Sunrise Coal LLC is in the process of securing coal leases in the area, but they have not provided information necessary for landowners to determine what impact leasing their coal reserves to Sunrise will have on their community.
New coal mines require the cooperation of county boards. Stand Up To Coal will ask the Board to adopt a resolution opposing coal mining activities on highly productive farmland.
Start Time: 6:00pm
Date: 2011-03-08
Location: 6 North Vermilion St., Courthouse Annex 2nd Floor, Danville, IL 61832
If you cannot attend, please call your Vermilion County Board Members at (217) 554-6000 or reach them by email to let them know why you are against new coal mining in this area. Board members need to hear from their constituents how the proposed mine would affect them.
